Our mind is just capable of retain a specific amount of data at any explicit second—that is referred to as our “cognitive capability.” Totally different cognitive duties require completely different quantities of our mind’s cognitive capability. 

Our cognitive talents and restraints are decided by the supply of our attentional assets—akin to working reminiscence (i.e., the quantity of data we are able to mentally maintain at any given time) and fluid intelligence (i.e., the flexibility to resolve new issues). 

The factor is, attentional assets are restricted, and utilizing them for one cognitive process leaves fewer obtainable for different duties (and, in flip, reduces obtainable cognitive capability). Given the overwhelming abundance of data at our fingertips and our brains’ restricted capability to course of that data, we should be extremely selective with how we’re allocating our attentional assets.
