Chocolate Almond Oat Bars From The Meals Doula Cookbook

After I sat down to write down a cookbook for pregnant and new mothers, I knew one factor for certain: It will need to have snacks. A lot of snacks.

There’s nothing like being pregnant and life with a new child that will get you mechanically reaching for the cabinet in quest of easy-to-grab meals once you don’t have the time, power, or mind energy to make a extra full meal.

Snacks are key for coping with morning illness (beige meals solely please!), after we’re hungrier sooner and extra recurrently between meals, they usually’re important for protecting our blood sugar steady (necessary for all pregnant individuals – and really useful in stopping nausea, complications, fatigue, and rather more).

And within the postpartum stage, common meals have a manner of being changed with that #snacklife as a result of life with a new child usually means consuming no matter you possibly can seize and eat with one hand.

As a doula and mother of two, I can let you know that having ready-to-go nourishing snacks could make the distinction between feeling drained and feeling like you will get by the day.

The factor with snacks is there’s such an enormous distinction between store-bought packaged snacks and selfmade snacks. Though definitely a necessity typically, packaged snacks are sometimes excessive in sugar and devoid of the vitamins we have to hold us feeling good.

Alternatively, snacks made at house will be:

  • Filled with protein to maintain you energized and feeling good
  • Filled with nice fat to fulfill you and gas your mind
  • An awesome supply of the nutritional vitamins and minerals you could thrive
  • Nicely-balanced to maintain your nausea, fatigue, and blood sugar in test

Enter my chocolate almond oat bars. It checks all of the dietary bins above – it’s simple to make, scrumptious to eat, and will be doubled and frozen (both by the batch or as individually wrapped bars for straightforward grab-and-go snacking!).

Together with my chocolate almond oat bars, you will discover many extra scrumptious and nourishing snacks and meals in The Meals Doula Cookbook.
